Why figures can differ from Search Console

Final data, time zones, whole weeks and privacy limits.

Our figures come straight from Search Console, so for the same dates they should match. When they seem not to, it's almost always one of these.

We only use final data

Search Console's newest 2 to 3 days are provisional and change as Google finishes counting. We wait for final figures, so our newest day is usually about 3 days ago. Search Console's default view includes the provisional days.

Dates are Pacific Time

Search Console counts days in Pacific Time (California). We do the same, so a "day" may not match your local calendar day.

Pages and searches use whole weeks

Daily totals are exact for any dates. Lists of pages and searches are stored per Monday-to-Sunday week, so those tables use the whole weeks inside your range. The report says which weeks.

Google hides some searches

For privacy, Search Console leaves rare searches out of its search lists. So the searches in a table can add up to less than the total clicks. The totals themselves are complete.

Discover and Google News have minimums

Google only reports Discover once a site passes a minimum number of impressions, and may leave out very small daily Google News figures. Small numbers can show as zero.

Analytics counts differently

Google Analytics counts visits, not clicks, and some Discover visits are labelled as other traffic. Its numbers won't match Search Console exactly, and that's normal.

Check it yourself

  1. Open Search ConsoleChoose the same site and go to Performance, then Discover (or Google News, or Search results).
  2. Set the same datesClick the date filter, choose Custom, and enter the dates shown at the top of your report.
  3. Compare the totalsTotal clicks and impressions should match ours.

Still different? Tell us with the dates and both figures, and we'll look into it.
